<aside> ☝️ On this page and subpages, we'll share what "all-remote" really means, how it works at Novu, some tips and tricks, and resources to learn more.

The Remote Manifesto

All-remote work promotes:

  1. Hiring and working from around the world instead of from a central location.
  2. Flexible working hours over set working hours.
  3. Writing down and recording knowledge over verbal explanations.
  4. Written processes over on-the-job training.
  5. Public sharing of information over need-to-know access.
  6. Opening up documents for editing by anyone over top-down control of documents.
  7. Asynchronous communication over synchronous communication.
  8. The results of work over the hours put in.
  9. Formal communication channels over informal communication channels.

The remote vision

Being able to recruit and hire from most countries in the world is a distinct competitive advantage for Novu.

We are hopeful that our hiring advantage will diminish over time. This will signal that all-remote is becoming commonplace, with prospective employees having a broader selection of companies offering such a structure.

We believe that a world with more all-remote companies will be more prosperous, with more equally distributed opportunities.

Why is this possible now?

Here are some of the critical factors that make all-remote work possible:

  1. Faster internet everywhere - 100Mb/s+ cable, 5GHz Wi-Fi, 4G/LTE/5G cellular
  2. Video call software - Like Google Hangouts, Zoom, etc.
